TD Lab is a collaboration between Emma Meade Flynn and Shaun Sweeney. We are two teachers and teacher trainers based in Barcelona. We’re interested in engaging teachers in a conversation about their practice, experimenting with techniques and sharing resources.
Here’s what we used to look like when we started this blog:
Hi, I’m Shaun. I got into ELT in 1999 by taking my Cert TESOL. This was with a view to travelling the world – naturally while simultaneously writing a novel and becoming an international superstar DJ. These last two ambitions have yet to come to fruition, but the TEFL career has afforded me the possibility to travel. My first billeting was in Japan, where I taught all ages – no doubt rather badly. I returned home to the UK relatively unscathed a couple of years later and taught in London. I took the Delta in 2005 and got involved in teacher training very soon thereafter. I spent around 5 years in Milan before moving to Barcelona in 2014. It’s nice here.
I´m Emma and I´m a teacher and teacher trainer. My first foray into TEFL was over 10 years ago when I ran away to Korea for some post-university adventure. Little did I know it would be the start of a career in English language teaching. I went on to do my CELTA and DELTA in London, where I also became a teacher trainer and had the chance to work with people from all over the world. I moved to Barcelona last year and it was the start of a whole new chapter in my TEFL odyssey!
